NordBooks — household and business money, in one place.

Most people running a small business end up with two systems: something for the household, something for the business, and a spreadsheet to reconcile the two. NordBooks keeps both in one place, with real bookkeeping underneath the business side.

What it does

Two sides of your money, one login

Household finances and business books need different levels of rigour. NordBooks gives each what it actually needs instead of forcing one approach on both.

Household side

Enter your income and regular bills once. See what is left over each month, where it goes, and how much you can safely put aside — with budgets and savings goals that tell you the monthly number to hit.

Business side

Real double-entry bookkeeping with a chart of accounts, so your income statement and balance sheet are figures a tax preparer can actually rely on — not a categorised list of transactions.

One picture

Net worth across both, including retirement and investment accounts. Business profit does not get lost in household spending, and household spending does not distort your business margins.

Import and export

Bring in a CSV or bank export — column mapping, date-format detection and duplicate checking, with a preview before anything is saved. Export any statement to CSV or PDF.

Books that hold up

Debits must equal credits, and a closed month cannot be quietly edited afterwards. Both are enforced by the database, not by hoping the software got it right.

Irregular income

If your income swings month to month, an average is misleading. NordBooks shows the range and a conservative planning figure, so you do not commit to fixed costs based on your best month.

Who it is for

Built for the people we already work with

NordBooks came out of the same question asked over and over: how do I keep the business separate from the household without running two systems?

Sole proprietors and freelancers

Where business and personal genuinely run through the same accounts, and separating them at tax time is the annual headache.

Small business owners

Who want to see profit, margin and runway without waiting for a quarterly close.

Households with a side business

Where one budget has to cover both, and it is never obvious which side is actually paying for what.

The honest part

Free, and early

NordBooks is free to use. It is also new, and worth being straight about what that means.

What works today

Manual entry, CSV import, budgets, goals, cash-flow planning, and full financial statements for the business side.

What is coming

Direct bank connections, invoicing, and mobile apps. Bank sync requires a security review by our data provider, which takes time we would rather spend getting right than rush.

What it is not

NordBooks organises information. It is not a substitute for professional accounting, tax or legal advice — that is what working with Jill is for.

Try it with your own numbers

Nothing to install and no card required. If you would rather have someone handle the books entirely, that is what the practice is for.
